I played Fortnite Festival – and I can’t wait to play with my old Rock Band instruments

FORTNITE has added two new family-friendly modes for people to play alongside the popular Battle Royale mode.

Now, the third major new mode has just dropped, giving fans yet another way to play.

Lego Fortnite, the new creative mode, was a huge success when it launched on Thursday, while Rocket Racing has already built a sizable number of fans since its release yesterday.

Chapter 5’s final big release is Fortnite Festival, a new musical mode from the team behind Rock Band.

There are two aspects to the new mode: the first is a cooperative rhythm game where you and your friends can rock out together.

The second is more free-flowing where, popular songs play out and you can play along or ruin them as you wish.

We can’t see anyone spending too much time with the latter. While it’s fun for a short time to mash up popular tracks, the laughs eventually wear off.

However, the traditional mode definitely has staying power as it’s essentially Rock Band without the peripherals.

Lady Gaga, The Cranberries, Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, Billie Eilish, and The Weeknd are just some of the stars that grace the initial tracklist.

The Weeknd is the first band in the spotlight and will be featured across the opening weekend.

There are different layouts for the different instruments, alongside several difficulty settings, giving lots of replayability.

The control scheme is customisable though, so if you struggle with any of them, you can change it up.

There will also be compatible peripheral instruments in the future to give the full Rock Band experience.

Overall, the popularity of the mode will rely on how much it is updated with new tracks and instruments in the future.
