IT used to be that when you purchased a game, you had it for life, but in the modern day, that’s not always the case.
With the rise in popularity of online storefronts, not all games will be there for good.
A recent casualty of digital stores is a popular PlayStation exclusive that is no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store.
Gran Turismo Sport was released for the PlayStation 4, and was also compatible with the original PS VR.
It was popular with racing fans when it was first released in 2017, but has since been succeeded by Gran Turismo 7 in 2022.
In September the team made an announcement that online play for Gran Turismo Sport would be discontinued on January 31, 2024.
The statement read: “On January 31, 2024, the online services of the PlayStation 4 exclusive software Gran Turismo Sport will come to an end.
“Prior to this on December 1, 2023, we will also end the distribution of purchasable Add-On items from the PlayStation Store that can be used in-game.
“After the end of service date, it will no longer be possible to utilise services such as the Community, Open Lobby, and Sport Mode, nor online features/items such as custom liveries.”
The deadline for purchasing DLC and add-ons has passed, but people didn’t realise that the game would be removed from sale also.
PlayStation users can no longer purchase the game, and if you want to play, you will need to find a physical copy.
If you want to play Gran Turismo Sport, it could be worth picking up, as many of the game modes will still function after the end of the month.
The main mode that will no longer work is the ability to challenge other players online.
You can still do time trials, or race around the track vs NPCs or in local coop.
