Sometimes it’s hard to know what to do if your Amazon Fire TV has stopped working.

But there’s a special combination of buttons that you can press on your Alexa remote to force a restart.

How to restart Amazon Fire TV using remote

Restarts can solve many bugs, including a crashed system.

Grab your remote control and hold down on the Select and Play/Pause buttons at the same time.

Keep holding them for a few seconds and your Fire TV device should start its reboot process.

Eventually you’ll see the Fire TV logo re-appear, which means it’s booting back up.

What if you want to reset the remote?

Maybe you want to reset the remote control and not the TV. That’s easy too!

Unplug your Fire TV and then wait for 60 seconds.

Next, press and hold on the Left part circular button in the middle, the Menu button, and the Back button – all at the same time.

Hold these three buttons down for 12 seconds, then release them and wait for five seconds.

Now remove the batteries from the remote control, then plug the Fire TV back in.

Wait for the screen to say that the remote can’t be detected.

Then place the batteries back into the remote and press the Home button.

The LED indicator should blink blue, meaning that your remote has been paired successfully.

If not, press the Home button for 10 seconds.
