If you have an Alexa Voice Remote Pro with your Fire TV stick you can make the most of the customizable buttons.

Amazon says: “The customizable buttons on your remote are shortcuts to do things like quickly access a favorite app, give an Alexa voice command, and more.”

The tech giant adds a note for Fire Stick users.

It says that for Fire TV Sticks: “Make sure that the power cable is connected to an outlet with the provided power adapter, and not to a USB port on the TV.

“This lets the customizable buttons work while the TV is off.”

Make sure you’re remote is already paired with your device.

Then, hold down your customizable button of choice.

There are two to pick from and they’re conveniently labelled with the numbers one and two.

Hold the button down for 5 seconds until a side panel appears on your TV screen.

Here, you’ll get some suggestions of what the button could be based on your recent activities.

You’ll also see shortcut recommendations based on your last three voice commands.

Amazon adds: “Select a suggested app, Alexa voice command, or More Actions in the side panel.

“For More Actions, select the category and choose a shortcut from the on-screen list.”

Select your new shortcut and an onscreen notification should confirm the change.

If you change your mind about the shortcut, repeat the steps to give the buttons a new meaning.
