FIRST LOOK: Australia’s first V4 Tesla Supercharger [Video]

Today I had the opportunity to visit the site of Tesla’s first V4 Supercharger in Australia. Located on the first floor of Albury’s Commercial Club car park, the 16 chargers are split across a few areas, but are easy to find, immediately visible as you drive up to the first floor.

It is clear that a lot of infrastructure was required to create a charging site of this capacity and speed. Not only are there a number of Tesla charging cabinets, but there’s are lots of cabling trays that allow the orange charging cables to run between the chargers and charging cabinets, due to the distributed location of the stalls.

The V4 superchargers are capable of charging at a rate of up to 350kW.

The newest version of Tesla’s Superchargers feature a long charging cable and payment terminal on the side, to better support non-Tesla vehicles to charge easily.

The site is currently still under construction (indicated by the stay-away tape and bollards), however, it appears very close to completion. Given the current status of the new Albury charging location, I expect these to be online as soon as this week.

The new Albury charging location will be an important addition to the 6-bay Supercharger in Wodonga is seeing a massive uptick in usage rates as more EVs are sold. While Tesla has enabled non-Tesla vehicles to charge at some locations, Wodonga isn’t currently one of them, for that reason these V4 Superchargers which almost certainly will support non-Tesla’s, will be important EV infrastructure for owners of EVs with other logos.

Now for an exclusive first look video from the site, giving you a preview of the newest location and the first V4 Supercharger location in Australia.
