The patches include firmware updates for Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy S21 devices.

The new versions are as follows, respectively: S91xBXXS3BWL3, S90xBXXS7DWL3, and G99xBXXS9FWL9.

The update fixes over 70 vulnerabilities, including some critical ones.

Samsung’s Security Updates webpage also patches a critical vulnerability tracked as CVE-2022-40507.

Alongside these patches, Samsung also released 67 others dedicated to targeting moderate-priority vulnerabilities.

One patch in the January update addresses a vulnerability in the “Notification service.”

This patch could give attackers access to users’ personal and sensitive information.

The threat specifically impacted Galaxy devices running Android 11 through 14.

Another fix squashes a Bluetooth vulnerability that could have let attackers silently pair malicious devices with Galaxy phones.

The update further corrects a vulnerability in Samsung DeX, where users in multi-user environments could access each other’s notifications.

It remains unclear whether the promised burn-in screen protection has been included in this update.

Apart from the Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22, and Galaxy S21, other devices that will receive the update include:

  • Galaxy Z Flip 5
  • Galaxy Z Fold 5
  • Galaxy Z Flip 4
  • Galaxy Z Fold 4
  • Galaxy A52 (5G)
  • Galaxy Note 20

HOW TO UPDATE YOUR DEVICE

Samsung users first need to head to Settings and then select System.

From there, locate System Updates, and then if you see any software, select Download and Install.

If you do not see any updates, you may need to wait for an official update to roll out.
