Following the success of Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, developer Ubisoft wanted to bring fans an open-world pirate adventure.

That’s when Skull & Bones was announced, but numerous delays meant that fans haven’t been able to get a hold of it yet.

However, a final release date has now been set for February 18, 2024, and fans can sail the high seas even sooner.

There will be an open beta test from Thursday, February 8, 2024, through Sunday, February 11, 2024.

Absolutely anyone can sign up to play as long as they have a platform that they can play it on.

It will feature crossplay across both PC and consoles, meaning you can play with friends no matter which platform they are on.

The Skull and Bones open beta features support for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Windows, Ubisoft Connect, and the Epic Games Store.

Those who take part in the beta can reach an Infamy Cap of Tier 6 and earn exclusive cosmetics, which will carry over into the full launch.

Ubisoft made the announcement alongside an outline of Skull and Bones’ Year 1 roadmap, suggesting that the game will be sticking around.

Skull and Bones has been in development since 2013, so this has been a long time coming for fans.

Fans are eager to find out if the long development has impacted the game poorly, and the open beta is their first chance to find out.
