PlayStation fans urged to check their attics in case they have these three games worth thousands

GAME collecting has seen a resurgence since the pandemic, with exceptionally rare games selling for thousands.

However, the title of rarest games goes to three PlayStation titles that have copies in the single digits.

All three games are from the developer Nicalis, and they are so rare people didn’t even know that they existed.

First signs of the Nicalis games existing surfaced around 2016 when a store page for The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for the PlayStation Vita first appeared on storefronts like PlayAsia.

However, there was no release date for the game, and the page appeared to be a placeholder for the future.

It was rumoured that Vita copies of two more Nicalis games, VVVVVV and 1001 Spikes, had also been created.

They were first spotted in 2019, when someone picked up copies of both of these games in a second-hand game store in Japan.

These copies have punch holes through the barcodes which is a sign that they are promo copies given to Sony employees.

This means that there are only a few copies of each game in existence, and they soon went up on eBay, selling for hundreds each.

Nicalis sent out a message on Twitter warning people not to buy these copies.

The Tweet read: “PSA: Certain unannounced PS Vita physical games, including 1001 Spikes and VVVVVV have been illegally sold on eBay in advance of their official release dates.

“Please note that these are unlimited runs. Do not get ripped off by overpaying on eBay.

“Look forward to the official versions of these games when they are sold legally through the upcoming Nicalis online store.”

However, official copies were never released or sold, and Nicalis stopped responding to people’s questions concerning the rare copies.

The copies that have appeared on eBay are in the single digits and now sell for thousands when they are available.

The final game, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, was first discovered in 2021 when the first copy appeared on eBay.

Only two copies are known to exist, making it the rarest game from the Nicalis trio.

Anyone who owns a copy of these three might not know they are sitting on a goldmine, as prices only go up year on year.
