It was revealed after one frustrated user started a Reddit thread complaining that they’re having issues setting up their Fire TV Stick.

“I’m currently setting up 4 Fire TV Sticks throughout the house with two Fire TV profiles and came across a few annoying issues,” they wrote.

They provided a numerical list of issues they were having and problem number four attracted some attention in the comments.

“Also, I have it set so the screensaver start time is never.. thinking this means it’ll never go to sleep.

“Nope, it just means it’ll go to sleep without a screensaver,” the frustrated user complained.

“There are ways around #4 another member wrote a tutorial.

“It’s easy enough and without it you’re stuck with the screensaver settings you have now,” one person replied.

“Thank you! I’ll look into this,” the frustrated user replied.

Another user wrote: “On #4, the firestick is designed to sleep automatically regardless of screen saver.

“No way to turn it off ever unless you pull the plug on the power adapter. You could set up some kind of switch to do this if you want.”

Amazon Fire Stick owners have discovered a useful trick to control their TVs

Technically, there’s no official way to stop your Amazon Fire TV Stick from going into sleep mode.

It’s a feature that’s in high demand and has been discussed on Amazon’s own help forum.

The official response was: “Currently, there is no option to turn this mode off.

“To send us feedback from your Fire TV Stick 4K, go to Settings > Help > Feedback. or send us email: firetvstick-feedback-us@amazon.com”

However, several YouTube videos reveal a trick that involves going into developer mode and editing your TV settings by using computer coding.

This video tutorial has been praised but is quite complicated for the average person.

If you’d rather avoid hacking the TV using developer mode, using the official screensaver options may be your only choice.

You can head to your Settings and choose whether the screensaver appears never or after five, 10, or 15 minutes of inactivity.

After 20 minutes, your Amazon Fire TV Stick will go into sleep mode if you’ve not been using it in that time.
